S.T.R.I.V.E.

The dictionary defines strive as ‘to make strenuous efforts toward any goal.’ While that is certainly what we intend to do here, I had a much different idea in mind when I conceived STRIVE with Janelle. To me, the word strive signifies a constant forward motion, never settling where you are and always working to be better. For me, S.T.R.I.V.E. means: Strength Tenacity Resilience Integrity Vision Endurance Yes, the meaning of STRIVE comes from the energy and significance of all those words. I believe in them and I am creating an interactive community where we can all share our ‘trial...
HOPE

It had been creeping back over the time I had forgotten to take care of me. To start with I was very angry with myself. I was beating myself up, telling myself I knew better and...
S Is For Strength

The ‘S’ in STRIVE with Janelle is STRENGTH. Strength has many meanings for me and has so many degrees of intensity. It’s much more than the physical, look-at-my-biceps-strength. There’s mental strength, spiritual strength, and even emotional strength. There is strength in numbers, family, faith and friends. I see strength as moving forward, and accomplishing what you once thought was impossible. But, I also see strength in vulnerability. What can I possibly mean by that? Where there is no struggle, there is no strength. - Oprah Winfrey I dug deep a while ago, sought out support from comrades and resources I...
